Gentle root canal therapy in one visit

Root CanalsDr. Aguilar is very experienced with root canal therapy. This procedure is needed when the pulp in the center and in the canals of the tooth become infected or damaged from bacteria or an injury, such as a fracture or other trauma. Inflamed pulp can also cause a lot of pain. Dr. Aguilar performs gentle root canal therapy to stop the infection and save the tooth.

What is a root canal?

The root canal is a narrow channel inside the tooth containing pulp. The canal is connected to the pulp cavity, which also contains the pulp material. Some teeth have only one canal; others can have more than one. Pulp is comprised of nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue that provide nourishment to the tooth.

Our root canal procedure

When Dr. Aguilar performs root canal therapy, he will first numb the tooth. He is very gentle with his injections, taking his time for your comfort. He then creates an opening in the top of the tooth to reach the pulp cavity and root canal inside. Using a rotary instrument, he is able to remove the pulp, including any that is infected. The rotary tool makes the therapy faster and more comfortable for the patient. The pulp material is then replaced with a biocompatible material. The last step is to create a crown to cap the tooth if one is needed.

Same-visit Crowns

Often after root canal therapy, a crown will be needed to restore the tooth. Using CEREC CAD/CAM technology, Dr. Aguilar can completely design and create your crown right in his office during the same visit. You will be able to go home with the infection eliminated and a beautiful, natural-looking crown.
